Khaled Khiyar
Entrepreneur
Khaled Khiyar was born in Asmara, Eritrea, in East Africa. At age six, his family moved to Khartoum, Sudan, where they lived for four years before immigrating to the United States and settling in Arlington, Virginia. A proud member of the Eritrean community, Khaled built a career in the hospitality industry driven by a passion for helping others and creating welcoming experiences.
In 2018, Khaled and his wife moved to Western North Carolina to pursue their dream of raising a family surrounded by natural beauty. Soon after settling in Pisgah Forest, they restored a historic 1950s motor court and launched Foggy Bottom Cabins. Since then, they have grown both their family and their connection to the local community.
Khaled is a proud husband, father, business owner, and community member. Through Foggy Bottom Cabins, he supports local initiatives and organizations including Habitat for Humanity and Rotary International. The cabins were recently recognized with a Booking.com Traveler Review Award, reflecting his commitment to hospitality and community.
